‘Four fragmented seated figures, a bird of prey and a rock’ is a new marble sculpture from Jam Sutton that explores themes of identity and mythology.

The sculpture is composed of multiple figures in dynamic and contemplative postures. The seated posture symbolses a moment of stillness and pause, however, combining the multiple figures as fragmented modular sections suggest movement and transformation of the human body. Despite this fragmentation, the figures are united in a shared sense of reflection and introspection, seated above a bird of prey acting as a reference to mythology.

The sculpture explores the relationship between digital technology, the human body, and our sense of self. Throughout Sutton’s sculptures and two-dimensional works, he invites viewers to consider the impact of technology on our physical and virtual existence, and how our identities are being transformed within digital space.

Using 3D scanning technologies to capture the form of the human body, Sutton then manipulates and transforms the data into sculptures within virtual space. This allows exploration of the idea of the “technoself”, offering a unique perspective on the intersection between the human body and digital experience.

The sculpture is cast in marble and ships in a bespoke wooden crate and includes a certificate of authenticity.
