‘Figure in motion (Daniel)’ is a new sculpture edition from Jam Sutton that explores themes of the human form and technology.
Taken from Jam Sutton’s upcoming 2024 exhibition ‘The Space Between’; new sculptures and mixed-reality artworks examine the intersection of physical and digital space. These works explore the tangled relationship between our lives in both the digital and physical worlds, and the complex ways in which we navigate these two seemingly disparate existences.
Each of the new sculptures captures the essence of being in a digital world while still occupying a physical space. They challenge our perception of what is 'real' and what is virtual, and invite us to contemplate the space in between these two existences.
Jam Sutton is a British artist exploring technology, portraiture and form. Utilising 3d scanning, augmented reality and 3d printing, Sutton creates sculptures and artworks exploring the depiction of human existence within digital space.
“In digital space, the body is not constrained by physical limitations. Through digital manipulation, limbs and bodies can intersect, merge, and morph in ways that are impossible in the physical world. ‘Figure in Motion (Daniel)’ explores this by depicting the figure in multiple stages of movement simultaneously, suggesting a fluidity and multiplicity that defies traditional anatomical boundaries. This freedom from limitation allows the human figure to be seen not as a static, singular entity, but as a dynamic, ever-evolving form.”
The sculpture is cast in marble and ships in a bespoke wooden crate and includes a certificate of authenticity.
